KANVASHRAM – THE BIRTHPLACE OF EMPEROR BHARAT
India is called Bharat or Bharatvarsha. It is named after King Bharat, yet relatively few individuals would have the option to name his origin, leave alone find it. I ended up visiting Kanvashram - the legacy of Rishi Kanva on the banks of River Malini in Uttarakhand. That is the point at which a great deal of accounts of the sacred writings and antiquated Indian writing woke up. Be it the tale of Shakuntala or the tale of her folks Vishwamitra and Menaka or the narrative of Kuru King Dushyant.

Sometime in the distant past, in the lower regions of Himalayas was the Ashram of Rishi Vishwamitra. His extreme contemplation stressed Indra - the ruler of paradise. To occupy him, he sent his most lovely Apsara Menaka to earth. She figured out how to occupy him and from their association was conceived a young lady named Shakuntala.
Shakuntala was left at Rishi Kanva's ashram, which was not a long way from Rishi Viswamitra's ashram that is distinguished at the close by slope where there is a well known Siddha Bali Hanuman sanctuary. Shakuntala experienced childhood in the woods among the creatures and birds. Dushyant - the lord of Hastinapur, that is around present-day Meerut city visited the backwoods around the spot for deer hunting. He met Shakuntala there and wedded her. A child was brought into the world to them - he was named Bharat.
Did you realize Bharat was otherwise called Sarvadaman as he ruled everybody at Rishi Kanva's ashram?
Bharat grew up here on the banks of Malini River. The country he administered would be named after him until the end of time. Each set of experiences book on India begins with a song that says - South of Himalayas, North of Sea, is Bharatvarsha where experience the relatives of Bharat.
